A fervent crowd of about 100 alumni from the Los Angeles area filled an elegant meeting room at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills on the evening of November 13, 2012 to hear a panel of entertainment and media industry marketing leaders discuss their latest ventures and projections for the future.
Hailing from diverse sectors of the industry, the panelists included Kay Madati (C ‘95), Head of Entertainment and Media, Facebook, Jen Neal (B ‘95), Executive Vice President, Marketing, E!, and Veronica Smiley (B’96), Chief Marketing Officer, SBE Corporation. The panel was moderated by GEMA President, Catherine Hagney Brown (C’84).
The discussion covered many topics at the center of marketing’s breakthroughs and challenges today including technology expansion and digital innovation, branding, cross-platform synergies, partnerships, Customer Relationship Management (CRM,) the new realities of monetization, and the elusive but inevitable emergence of mobile as a dominant platform.
The panelists also reflected on the influence Georgetown has had in their careers and their advice to those starting or moving into new roles in marketing today.
After a brief but provocative Q+A session with the audience, speakers and guests continued their discussion and reminisced at a reception on the hotel’s Garden Patio.
The latest in the GEMA Speaker Series, Innovative Marketing in a Digital World is designed to bring together entertainment and media professionals with variant points of view to discuss latest trends and build camaraderie. GEMA would like to thank the SLS Hotel for their hospitality in making this event possible.
